Preamble
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Statement from the Greater Cincinnati Intergroup on "7th Tradition"
Dear members,
Recently, you received a letter suggesting that we increase contributions to close the gap on our deficit. In response, several members suggested that we craft a statement reflecting the importance of the 7th Tradition that can be read at meetings. Please consider reading the statement below at the various meetings you attend. I am certain that, as we work together, we can ensure that Cincinnati AA has a solid foundation.
Statement:
The 7th Tradition: “Every AA group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions”.
Cincinnati AA faces a budget deficit. The services your Intergroup provides depend upon membership support. If you are able, please consider increasing the amount you put in the basket. Also, if you make contributions to your favorite nonprofits, consider Cincinnati AA.
Contributions to AA are vital to the preservation of our fellowship. Most importantly, the monetary amount is not as important as the spiritual connection that joins us in unity.
For more information about this, see your Intergroup Representative and/or the most recent issue of Footsteps.
